Where We Are Today
Today, we are an established support group in Southern Indiana and reach men within 50 miles of Northeastern Kentucky. We meet monthly in Southern Indiana at a local restaurant that provides a private meeting room. The men may order food and drinks, which establishes a comfortable atmosphere for them. The meetings are balanced between discussions ranging from new treatments; reconstructive surgery to updates on prognosis. Periodically, we invite professionals from the oncology field, Hospice and counselors experienced in helping men through the caregiver process. No one is required to talk about his experience or feelings. Sometimes the support comes from just listening to other men. A few men prefer talking one-on-one to someone who has a similar situation and commonalties. We require nothing other than to help another man feel that he has some control and support as he supports his loved one through the process.
